I recently upgraded my internet to a 5G and discovered that the cameras are only supported by 2..4 and therefore went through the guest network to create a 2.4 connection. I went through the steps of pairing and connecting my cameras and am having no luck. I went through the troubleshooting list and still no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hey @annazub,
great question and welcome to the community.
I'm assuming you got a new router as part of the upgrade, and as you point out it has a guest network capability that allows 2.4 Ghz devices to connect.
Specifically Telstra smart modems do this, but I know for a fact that other brand router/modems have similar features:
If you have enabled the 2.4 Ghz network, make sure that you don't have "network band steering" enabled. I had to turn that off.
On my router, this allows devices to try to connect to the fastest of the network SSIDs, and I've found that doesn't work.
Also, on whatever device you are using to pair the grid connect device, after you have done the above, have your device FORGET the network, then connect, and ONLY connect to the 2,4 Ghz SSID, then try to re-pair the security camera.
There's a full troubleshooting guide here: grid connect wifi troubleshooting Option "B`' worked for me, and I've done this for people on Optus modems (slightly different, but ends up in the same place).
Let us know if this helps, or give me the make of your Router and I can see if it's that.
