How to acid etch concrete floor?

If I acid etch my garage floor. How long does the etching last? I want to etch it before the driveway goes in but possible won’t be able to paint for a couple of months. Will this matter? Thanks

That's fine to etch now and then apply the coating in a few months. However, although you won't need to etch again, you will need to clean the floor to remove any debris or buildup. This can be done with a mixture of hot water and a small amount of dishwashing detergent. Ensure you flush the area with fresh water and allow it to dry fully before coating.

Ultimately, it's best to do the etch just before coating as it takes care of the etch and cleaning simultaneously, but if you clean before painting, you can proceed with it now.
