Hello, I need to buy pieces of treated timber cut to a specific size to make bookshelf shelves (eg 42x36cm). What product should I buy and will Bunnings cut it for me?
thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @jec. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about our cutting service.
You wouldn't typically find a chemically treated timber suitable to be cut in those sizes. Marine plywood is weather resistant, is suitable to be cut into those sizes and would make some great shelves. Just have a word with a helpful team member in your closest store's timber yard to have it cut.

Hi. I want Melamine Board cut to size to create a shelf in my cabinet. The dimensions will be 72.5 cm in length & 55 cm width. Will Bunings be able to do the cut? I went to my Bunnings store at Tarneit and they say that the minimum cut will be 300cm, is it true? Kindly help.
Hello @jitin81,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's splendid to have you join us.
I believe there was a bit of miscommunication. The team member probably meant to say 300mm and when you convert your 72.5cm it will be 725mm along with the 55cm which is 550mm. Both measurements are above the minimum allowable cut. It will be possible to have your melamine board cut to size.
Please note that some chipping will occur due to the rough nature of the shop saw. I've placed a sample sketch below so that you can show the saw operator the size that you are after. But just to be safe, please double check the measurements before you commit to having it cut.

Are treated pine sleepers able to be cut (in half) lengthwise by the Bunnings Cut Shop?
Hello @cbeadz
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us.
I'm sorry but the shop saws are not able to do a lengthwise cut also known as a rip cut. However, it is possible to cut the sleeper using a handsaw or a circular saw. I suggest having a quick look at this guide - How to choose the right power saw for the job by @Adam_W.
If you do decide to cut the sleeper, I recommend using TWA Woodcare 300g Ecoseal Tanalised Timber Treatment to reseal the cut ends.
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and an appropriate mask when using the spray. Please make sure to follow all the safety instructions printed at the back of the can before use.
If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Can Bunnings Stores be able to cut some French Cleats for me so I can install them in my shed. I have asked at two of your stores but they don"t even what French cleats are.
Hello @JackF232
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
I'm sorry but the shop saws are not able to do an angled cut for French cleats. They are only able to do straight cuts. However, it is possible to cut the timber using a handsaw or a circular saw. I suggest having a quick look at this guide - How to choose the right power saw for the job by @Adam_W.
A circular saw can be adjusted so that it cuts at an angle. This will make it very easy to create your French cleats. If you are building the cleats to hold your tools, this would be the perfect opportunity to create a cradle for your circular saw as well.
I also suggest having a look at this featured discussion - Custom tool holders on French cleat wall by @fhk56
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and an appropriate mask when working on your project.
