Hi, we have been into a new house for about 4 months and there is a rotten pole in the main entrance. Looking for any solution to get it fixed.
Thanks
Sam
Hi @Samnet,
Is this post supporting a roof structure?
If so, the only safe method of fixing this issue is to replace the post.
Can you upload some photos of where it meets the roof structure and how it is connected?
It is likely possible to prop the roof structure with Acrow Props, cut out the post and replace it like-for-like with a suitable post.
Once you've provided some more details, I'd be happy to assist further.

Hi @Samnet,
As I suspected, the pole is structural, meaning it will need to be replaced as a matter of urgency.
As the repair is of a structural nature and it is not going to be straightforward, I'd suggest contacting a carpenter for assistance on this one. They'll have the knowledge required to prop the roof structure, remove the post and replace it.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Jacob
Thanks @JacobZ
The structure is supported by a wall and just a portion of it is on this pole. What's your thoughts?
Thanks
Saman
Hi @Samnet,
While the wall supports one end of the beam, the post still supports the other end of the beam which is supporting the roof.
If the post fails or slips from the post anchor, which is entirely possible considering the rot, then there is a potential that this roof will collapse.
My advice hasn't changed, the post will need to be replaced as soon as possible and it is best that you contact a carpenter for assistance.
