How to fix collapsed clothesline?

 when I put a heavy mat on it (oops) it all just collapsed and as you can see the button thing? To pull up and down is stuck at the top and you can’t press the button

If the arms can’t be pushed back into position and locked, it’s possible that the locking mechanism has broken or is jammed. Start by inspecting the button to check for visible damage or debris preventing it from working properly. If it’s stuck, applying a lubricant like WD-40 to the mechanism may help free it up and restore its functionality.

 

If lubrication doesn’t work or if the mechanism appears damaged, the next step would be to consult the manufacturer’s troubleshooting resources or support team. If this is a Hills clothesline, their customer service team can provide advice on repairs or replacement parts.

 

Should the mechanism be beyond repair, you may need to consider replacing the clothesline, and we have a variety of options. Let me know if you need a hand selecting one.
