Hello! first time poster and new to all things home improvement. Just moved into our new home and noticed this gap between the kitchen floor and wall. I'm looking for some advice on the best approach to sealing this gap/repairing what's there. Any tips/advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Hi @kamspam,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
Nothing is stopping you from removing the old silicone with a caulk & sealant remover or utility knife and replacing it with new white silicone, but it is likely over time the cracks will reappear.
Generally speaking, the gap between the bottom of a skirting board and floor coverings is not sealed as there will be natural differences in movement between the ground and the walls. This is the likely cause of the cracking you are seeing here.
If you'd like to proceed with the aesthetic repair, check out How To Silicone a Gap for some guidance.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
