I am considering buying a benchtop dishwasher, but am not sure what is currently available so as to connect the hose to the kitchen tap.
5 years ago (YouTube video) a person could buy two parts to make that connection: a) Sink Tap Click On and b) NYLEX brass sprinkler adapter.
Bunnings seems to not sell either anymore.
IMAGES BELOW:
1) MY KITCHEN TAP: Is this ideal for a dishwasher hose to be attached and also easy enough to take the aerator off?
2) TAP CONNECTIONS YOUTUBE:
This is what BUNNINGS sold 5 years ago so are these still available or is something else now in their place?
3) HOSE HOLDER(?): What is holding this hose up? Does Bunnings sell anything like this, also, a contraption that can keep the drain hose fixed to the sink area whilst the dishwasher is on.
The USA has this fantastic 3 in one tap connector that is a part of the dishwasher components/parts/kit when sold and it is such a shame that is not available here as it keeps the drain hose in place to face down the sink plus you can press a red button so as to get a glass of water etc.
Anyways, to reiterate, what is available now so that I can attach the hose to the kitchen tap? Don't want to buy anything if it is going to be a hassle getting tap connection parts.
Thanks!
Hi,
I want to purchase a bench top dishwasher and this is my sinck tap, how can I connect the dishwasher into it?
Hi @omid_motamedi,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
It should be fairly easy to do, but the specific products will depend on the diameter of your spout, the specific bench-top dishwasher and the size of the inlet hose that it uses.
If you take a look at the underside of the spout, there should be a thread inside it that you can attach an adaptor to. Depending on the diameter of the thread in your spout and the diameter of the thread on your inlet hose, you might be able to use a Brasshards 20mm Brass Threaded Hexagon Nipple or a Brasshards 15mm Brass Threaded Hexagon Nipple.
Once this is installed, it should be as simple as connecting the inlet hose to the tap and turning it on when required.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Anyone who wants to connect the exact above shaoen Kitchen tap and Dishwasher hose. Buy a good plumbing tape from Bunnings and the below from Online. Brand -G Sunny
Dishwasher,Washer Snap Coupling Adapter,Shower Hose, Garden Hose(3/4GHT) Quick Connection, for Bathroom/Kitchen,Sink to Hose Adapter Faucet Hose, Sink Quick-fit Attachment (Quick-Connect)
Hi @MinB Thanks a lot. I tried and it helped me. Instead of putting the tape which was in the packet I used a good Plumbing tape from Bunnings and its working amazingly. Thanks a ton.
Hi @hayleyj,
I completely understand your situation and the desire for a simple solution. However, there are limited options available that are certified for this purpose. Dishwashers are typically designed to be hard plumbed and securely fixed to their water connections to prevent them from popping off under pressure and potentially flooding your home.
The threads on a standard kitchen mixer tap are much finer than those found on dishwasher connection hoses, which is why a special fitting or adapter is often required to make the connection safely. While it might seem like a straightforward task, it’s important to ensure the connection is both secure and leak-proof for your safety.
I am unaware of any singular fitting that will allow your dishwashers connection.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Glad you found some value out of it. 👍
Just so everyone knows - my dishwasher is still going strong and the tap is as well with what was connected or fitted to it to make it work - tweaks and all.
Hi
I am having the same problem with the connection to the tap itself. Water spits out when connected to the dishwasher...I spent hours in Bunnings this morning and most of the rest of the day trying to address the leak...with no luck. I am beginning to think I will have to engage a plumber...which I didn't think would be the case for a benchtop dishwasher.
Update: inserted a rubber washer and no more leaks Yay!!!
So am truly not a big DIYer or know lots when it comes to being a handyman person. I recently moved into an old style apartment building and the taps look as old as the building itself. I discovered the kitchen sink taps have no thread on them so I can’t move ahead with my wanting to get a portable dishwasher while I’m renting in this place. I’m hoping I could be sent in the right direct or given suggestion on how to proceed. Doing googling has only suggested replacing the taps or getting an adaptor for the tap so a hose could be connect. However I have no worldly idea what kind of adaptor I should be searching for not too mention not breaking the bank account while doing so. Hopefully my attached photo I took of my cold water tap in my kitchen sink can help with advice.
