How to fix a fridge freezing on lowest setting?
I recently got a second hand fridge. The dial is turned to 1 but the food inside is freezing solid. There is a compartment in the fridge that has ice on it (picture).
The make is hard to read but I think it is a Westinghouse Aurora Fridge (old). I’ve checked with my phone camera and the light inside turns off correctly when closed.
Is there anything I can get / do to fix this?

Re: Fridge Freezing on Lowest Setting
Hello @victoriastreet9
Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your refrigerator.
It sounds like your second-hand Westinghouse Aurora fridge is cooling too much, even with the dial set to the lowest setting. This issue is likely due to a faulty thermostat, which is responsible for regulating the fridge's temperature. When the thermostat is not working correctly, it can cause the fridge to overcool, leading to food freezing and ice buildup. I propose engaging the services of an appliance technician and having them replace the thermostat.
My best advice is to replace the door seals while you are having the thermostat replaced. This should give your fridge a fresh opportunity to keep the cold in.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
