I built this wine rack out of necessisity than need. I was replacing my existing fridge with a bigger one, so I had to remove the cabinet above the fridge, to fit in the new fridge. That left some space above the fridge so I decided to make this wine rack and place it instead of the smaller cabinet.
The idea to build this came because I had some leftover boards after making a shoe rack (seperate project done after I built a book case, will post about them as well).
Luckily, I found the metal wine racks which fitted perfectly in the case I made. I screwed them down with small U-clamps.
Black Melamine Colourboard 1800x595x16mm
Timber Screws 4x25mm
MDF Standard Panel 2400x1200x6mm (used for other projects as well)
Harboard Nails 20x1.6 100G
SELLEYS PVA Adhesive
Cabots Stain and Varnish Walnut (to paint the back MDF panel)
- Measured the area and cut the board into four pieces to make a rectangle
- Cut the MDF panel to make the back cover for the case
- Used glue and screwed them to make a rectangular case
- Inserted the metal wine racks and attached them using smaill U-clamps
Hi @sportyrom,
Your project turned out fantastic and used the space so effectively, transforming it into a practical and stylish wine rack. The fact that you repurposed leftover materials from other projects is both resourceful and inspiring. The finished piece really enhances the area.
Well done. I can't wait to see your other projects—keep up the great work!

Good Evening @sportyrom
Love the reuse part of your project and something functional plus resusing the space above the fridge! Brilliant!
Definently a nice way to improve an area and it looks like a professionaly bought piece!

That's much better - from a drinker's perspective! 😁
Where is the rack from?
The racks are from Costco.
