Will acid etch solution affect galvanised steel posts and Colorbond cladding?

We want to use Berger Jet Dry Active Etch to prepare a concrete garage floor for painting. Does anyone know if the solution will affect galvanised steel (the internal posts of the garage and the Colorbond cladding)? Not worried about discolouration, only structural damage. Hope someone can help.

Re: Acid Etch solution and galvanised steel

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Ripley. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Active Etch.

Although Berger Jet Dry Active Etch is not as aggressive as hydrochloric acid it's best to cover anything you do not wish it to come in contact with. The likelihood of structural damage caused by it coming in contact with gal steel or colorbond is minimal, especially if you flush it off when you are rinsing down the rest of the floor. However, I would still encourage you to cover the surfaces to prevent it getting on there in the first place.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Acid Etch solution and galvanised steel

Thanks Mitchell, that's very helpful - we were hoping that something like those precautions you mentioned would be adequate so it's great to hear your suggestions.
