How to rejuvenate an old Jarrah workbench

Hello Workshop Community !!!!! 😊

My hubby’s Mum recently downsized to a Unit.
We were lucky to salvage the very old and forgotten Jarrah workbench in her shed that had a large piece of chipboard nailed to it and unfortunately the bench was hidden over time with storage.
Hubby and son had a dreadful time trying to carefully remove the chipboard that was nailed to the timber. They didn’t get too  damaged. Then they removed the timber planks from the frame and we were able to transport it home and into our Shed.
The old cuphead bolts were replaced with new ones and more holes drilled in to add a few more bolts to make it more secure on the square tubing legs.
We wanted to make the work bench more user friendly in our shed so we added cast iron castor wheels so we can move it around the shed as needed. High  tensile bolts and stainless steel lock nuts were used to secure the castor wheels to the frame as the jarrah planks are heavy. Brushed down the timber with a soft wire brush to remove dust and spider webs. We want to leave it natural to enjoy the Jarrah. Now it has a new home to be loved again 🥰🥰

Hi @mich1972,

Thanks for sharing. This old workbench is too good to be hidden away.

We look forward to seeing all the projects that will come to life here.

Thanks @StevieB IIt’s a very basic bench but we love it and certainly didn’t want to get rid of it 😍

Great work @mich1972! I love projects like this, though I'd be hard-pressed not giving it a light sand to see if any colouring is revealed. It looks beautiful as it is, though, and I would also be hesitant to touch it.

Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks @MitchellMc Yep I did ask hubby about sanding it but he wants to keep it like this. 😊
