I have an idea to make a big container for boxes in our warehouse. We open lots of boxes and reuse them a lot and without some sort of container, it could get messy and boxes falling everywhere. We would like to use a pallet and attach castor wheels, so we can move it around. We need advice on how to build the frame and which material we should use. It doesn’t have to be strong as it will only contain opened but already made boxes. We don’t need a steel cage that covers all sides either. We kind of like the idea of it being similar to a boxing ring (with ropes to make the walls. We just need some kind of frame to put the ropes through.
Hi @scoobydoo
I posted earlier - but didn't read your query properly.
Sorry.
I do think steel would be good though. 😁
Cheers.
Hi @scoobydoo,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
I'd suggest having a look at Metal Mate Connect-It joiners. They can be used with aluminium tubes to very easily create a frame.
Once the frame is together, you can use small metal screws such as Buildex 12mm Zinc Plated Button Head Metal Tek Screws to lock everything together.
You could then drill small holes in the frame, install grommets to the holes and then run shock cord through the holes to keep the boxes in place.
While not as heavy-duty as steel, it is an easy, cost-effective method of creating a frame such as this, that doesn't require a lot of effort or tools.
Let me know what you think and if you require any further guidance.
