What base and paint for a bathroom PVC cabinet?

I am planning to build a mountable bathroom cabinet (see attached) from https://www.bunnings.com.au/2440-x-1220-x-16mm-white-pvc-foam-board_p0495500

I want it matt.

What would you recommend to use as a base and a paint?

Thank you!

Hello @ivk

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. it's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about painting PVC panels.

I suspect that an aqua enamel paint will work on its surface, but please allow me to double check with our supplier if any particular primer is required before painting it. As soon as we have more information, we'll get back to you.

Thank you for your patience.

Eric

Re: What base and paint for a bathroom PVC cabinet?

Hi @ivk,

It would be best to give the surface a quick scuff with some 240-grit sandpaper to abrade and key it. You then need to use a specialised primer such as Dulux 1L PRECISION White Maximum Strength Adhesion Primer, which is suitable for PVC. Once the primer is dry, you can apply your topcoat paint. As @EricL mentioned, Dulux Aquanamel would be a suitable paint to use as the topcoat.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
