How to replace broken shower handle?

I have a broken shower handle which we tried fixing with the Allen key but it came off agai. Looking to replace only tge shower handle but local bunnings  store only had the full set with internal pipes. The pipes are working fine and don't want to touch them.  Any ideas on how to fix the handle or replace the shower lnob alone.

Re: How to replace broken shower handle?

Hello @coolmum40

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower handle.

In order to assess your shower handle further, would it be possible for you post a photo of the inside of the handle please. This will give us a much better picture of the status of the handles post holder itself. We can then determine if the handle will still work or if it is totally broken. At the moment there is no standard sized handle you can purchase to fit your shower mixer. It's currently more like a test and see situation.

You could take a risk and order a handle only as a spare part, but there is no guarantee that the handle will fit your current shower mixer. I'm only aware of one handle mixer that you could special order and that is the evekare 35mm Extended Lever Handle. It's a generic handle replacement and generally fits most shower and basin mixers, but as I've mentioned there is no guarantee of a fit.

But let's have a look at that handle first, perhaps it can still be re-installed onto your shower mixer.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Thanks for your response  but I am sure the product you mentioned won't be suitable.Sharing images of the inside as requested.

Re: How to replace broken shower handle?

Hello @coolmum40

Thanks for sharing those extra pictures, it appears that the grub screw is partially screwed in and is preventing the handle from full sinking into the ceramic cartridge post. I suggest removing the grub screw all the way and doing a test fit of the handle. It should technically go a lot deeper into the assembly. Once the handle is in as deep as you can push it re-attach the grub screw to lock it in. The grub screw is supposed to drill into the ceramic cartridge post and prevent it from getting pulled out.

Please give it another try and tell me how it goes.

Re: How to replace broken shower handle?

Forgive my ignorance but could you show me what exactly is the gurb screw by circling it in the image?

Re: How to replace broken shower handle?

Hi @coolmum40,

I can't actually see the grub screw in your image, but it typically lives between the arrows I've inserted. Just ensure there is a grubscrew that looks similar to this in that portion. When you tighten it with the fallen key, it's job is to bite into the white plastic fitting. The white plastic fitting does look quite chewed out, so even when the grubscrew is tightened, it might not hold adequately.
