Hello, my ceiling is only 2.31m high - does anyone know if a builder would install an overhead fan - if it was a low profile one?
I’ve found one that has a Ceiling to Blade Measurement of 183mm. Or is the ceiling just generally to low?
thanks!

Hi @Lizzy224
I just stopped my roof fan spinning so I could measure my roof height standard is 2.4m approx My fan blade hangs down 300mm from the roof.
So floor to fan blade height 2100 meters for my place. and that is perfectly comfortable height for most people we had visit.
So your floor to roof height is 2.31m (2310) your planned fan is 183mm from the ceiling so that means 2310 - 183 = 2127mm
So your floor to ceiling height is 27mm taller than my house. So your plan sounds good.
Sparky would do that work for the builder.
Tip: To save money think up all your pending preferred electrical changes eg lights power outlets etc and have them all done in in the same visit.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Lizzy224. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about ceiling fans.
The Australian Standard AS 4226 – 2008, Clause 12.5. 3 states that all ceiling fans should be at least 2100mm from the floor. With a 183mm ceiling fan installed on your 2310mm high ceiling, that would place the ceiling fan 2127mm from the floor and comply by 27mm.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
