Hi,
I am looking for a replacement for this security door (sliding) wheel. I can't remove the whole assembly as it is fitted to the bottom of the door. However, I was able to get the wheel out. I would like to replace the whole assembly if possible, having said that, if it is not easy to remove it, I will be happy to just replace the wheel part. Any ideas on how to remove this assembly or find what kind of wheel I need to purchase?
Thanks in advance
Hi @bh039,
The hole assembly appears to be pop-riveted into the bottom of the door. You'd need to take a 3mm drill, place it in the middle of the two circular steel rivets and drill them out. Drilling out the central portion of the rivet will release its grip. You will need to re-install new rivets to re-attach the assembly.
The wheel is inside a cassette, and it looks rather proprietary. If you pop the wheel out, there is a chance that a generic wheel could fit. Try prying the wheel axle out of the cassette will a small flathead screwdriver. If you can pop the axle out, it should release the wheel. Once you've removed the wheel, you can take it to your closest Bunnings store, and a helpful team member can match it up for you.
I would advise replacing only the wheel at this stage, as that's the part you're most likely to find. I'd leave the rest alone if the door works fine with a new roller.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
