Hi all, I recently bought these press in screw caps to conceal some screws https://www.bunnings.com.au/taskmaster-black-press-in-screw-caps-100-pack_p0290579 I've tried to press them into these screws https://www.bunnings.com.au/ramset-nylon-wallmate-mini-anchor-4-pack_p2260949 and they won't go in. I've tried the screw caps on some other screws around the house and none of them fit. I've also tried lighting tapping them in with a hammer but no dice. Am I missing something here? Not sure if they'd help, but I've attached two photos of the products side by side.
Hi @Numachi,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
It looks like the issue is because the central part of the screw cap is too small to wedge itself in the cross of the screw. The screw you have looks to be designed for a PH3 bit, such as these DeWALT FLEXTORQ 57mm PH3 Screwdriver Bits, which use a slightly wider and shallower groove to make the cross. These screw caps will work better with a screw designed for a PH2 or PH1 bit.
You could either swap the screw for something like this Zenith 8G x 30mm Countersunk Rib Head Chipboard Screws or use an adhesive cap like these Taskmaster 15mm Black Self Adhesive Screw Caps.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
