We had a sloping front area we were trying to do something with. We ended up building a small deck and adding steps to suit. We are pretty happy with our first attempt at decking. This was a DIY project, so there may be better ways of doing it but this was what worked for me.
Materials
Tools
Ekodeck in Backbeach color.
Treated pine 70 x 45
Treated pine sleepers 200 x 50
Decking pedastals
Joist Tape
Steps
Step 1
1/2
We made the frame for the deck out of 70 x 45 treated pine, then used the pedestal feet to level it up. We picture framed it first then filled in the middle.
Step 2
2/2
Steps were made using 200 x 50 treated pine sleepers for the outer sections, then used 70 x 45 treated pine for the joists. We screwed it all together using batten screws. We started with the top step screwed to the concrete and then added a 100 x 100 post to the front. The next step used the same post at the rear, then we added 2 more to the front. Repeated steps down to last step. We did screw the front of the last step into the concrete footpath.

Great work on your D.I.Y. front entry deck and steps! It’s clear you put a lot of effort into planning and executing the project, and it looks like it’s come together really well. Nice job on tackling it yourself and creating a solid, functional entry to your home.
Cant wait to see your next project!

Good Evening @tobyandtamsyn
Nice! Those steps and the deck really compliment the front of the house. I like your design and they way you have put it all together. Really professional finishing btw.
