Previous owners of the house installed a cat flap in a glass door; flap has yellowed and admits drafts. Is there a way of removing and sealing the hole using a circular piece of glass and possibly some sort of silicone grommet, or is glass replacement the only way?
Hi @Bandicoot
Replacing the glass is one way of removing the cat flap. But if you are not ready for that, it might be possible to put a silicone bead on the flap itself to prevent drafts from coming in. Another option is to remove the cat flap and cutting a timber cover that goes inside the circular cut and putting a silicone bead on the edge of the timber and glass.
Please note that working with glass is dangerous an accidental hit with a tool or when too much force is applied could cause it to shatter and cause injury. Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves and goggles when working on your project.
