How to install replacement Lockwood 001 deadlatch?

Replace a old Lockwood with same Lockwood 001 deadlatch. After taking old one, installing cylinder and mounting plate, I can't install the case.

Rotate turnknob fully clockwise to the hold back position

Ensure notch on hub is aligned with V on mounting plate

Issue happens for keys can't remove from external cylinder.

I spend three days and still can't remove the keys after notch on hub aligned with V on mounting plate.

Any good advice ?

Yes, I have dismantle and reinstall the lock twice.

Re: How to install replacement Lockwood 001 deadlatch?

Hi @Honest52,

Can you please show me the cylinder side as it is now so I can see which way up the key is facing? If the teeth on the key are facing down, this means that the cylinder is upside down and needs to be removed and spun 180 degrees. Please note the keys need to be removed from the cylinder prior to installing the case.

The V and notch need to be aligned prior to installing the cylinder. You'll need to return to Step three, part four, as below. You can't install the cylinder and use the key to turn it to align it, as you won't be able to remove the key. The key doesn't get inserted until part seven when you use it to turn the hub 90 degrees to secure the second retainer screw. Next, you turn the knob fully clockwise to the lockback position, remove the key and install the case body.

Let me know how you go.

Mitchell
