 hello 👋🏼

I had some horrible handles on our wardobe doors that came loose and frustrating so they have been gone for a while now.
Im hoping to install these knobs. Im not sure how to do this as the doors are hollow core type doors i think. Would the screw stay put in there if i just drilled it in?

i have tried to find a way to do it online but get lost and distracted!

i like they way you guys explain things. I need it basic step by step and to the point. Some of the simplest things to fix i cant get it right. I might ask about my toilet roll holder soon hehe.
Thankyou

Re: install knobs for wardrobe

Hello @M_-

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your wardrobe handles.

It's good to see that you've started to repair the damage on your wardrobe doors. Your door knob has an adjustable screw that comes with the kit. In order to find out how much you need to cut off place the screw on the edge of your wardrobe door and get a black marker to indicate on the screw which slot to cut. I suggest cutting the screw just a little bit past the surface of the wardrobe door not too far out and not small either. It has to be just enough that you can securely screw the door knob onto the wardrobe door.

You can use either a side cutting set of pliers or hold the screw with a vice and cut it with a hack saw.

In regards to position, I suggest using a ruler and picking a spot that is a little bit of a distance away from the old holes. You'll want the handles far enough from the edge that it looks right but not so far that it starts to look unusual. Make sure to draw a pencil line across both doors to make sure that they are at the same level. Draw a vertical line to indicate the spot where you'll be drilling. Make sure to draw the same line on the other door and that the distances are the same.

Place the knobs in position without drilling into the door, look carefully to make sure that you are happy with the positions. Once you've finalized the spots use a drill to make holes in the door. Slide the screw into position and screw the knob onto the door. Use a Philips/cross head screwdriver to hold the screw in place while you are turning the knob. You'll want it firmly tight, but not overly tight that it bites into the doors surface.

I've placed an image below to give you an idea of how you can be done. Please note that the measurements I've placed are for reference only, please adjust them to your needs.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
