How to fix gate latch sticking with Ikonic digital entry lock?

I have an Ikonic digital entry lock installed on an external gate.

Recently the latch has been sticking and not returning fully to enable the gate to lock.

The rear handle has a ‘snib’ that has no details as to how to operate provided in the ikonic instructions.

Does the snib need to centred to the left etc please or how to adjust ?
Any help would be greatfully received as the lock has worked ok until recently

Re: How to fix gate latch sticking with Ikonic digital entry lock?

Hello @kav1107

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your digital lock.

If your lock was originally functioning properly and the latch is now starting to stick, I suggest using the 3-In-One 150g Lock Lubricant on the latch. It's possible that debris might have entered the latch mechanism and just needs a bit of lubrication to loosen it up. As to the purpose of the snib, please allow us to contact our supplier so that we can make some inquiries regarding its purpose.

Looking at the original packaging, I think it's facing in the correct direction. As soon as we get more information, we'll get back to you.

Thank you for your patience.

Re: How to fix gate latch sticking with Ikonic digital entry lock?

Hi @kav1107,

The snib is used to operate the deadlatch feature.

The deadlatch feature pin is designed to sit in the semi-circular cutout of the latchbolt. Currently, it is off to the right, and I can't imagine how this could occur without something being broken. This misalignment is likely causing the lock to bind.

How thick is the timber from one side of the gate to the other where the lock is mounted? I'm wondering whether this thickness is outside the working parameters of this lock, and that has caused this issue to arise. At this time, it would likely be best to disassemble the lock to try and determine why the nib is not sitting in the right location.

Hello @kav1107

Any chance of a close-up photo of the latch with the door closed - from the other side?

Cheers.

Re: How to fix gate latch sticking with Ikonic digital entry lock?

Hello @kav1107

Just letting you know that I've sent an email to our supplier regarding the "snib button" at the back of the rear handle. I suspect that it might be a handle relocation button. Have you tried to press it and turn the handle? Another possibility is that it could be a hold lock key and that by pressing and turning it and releasing the snib it locks the door lock in the open position. As soon as we get a response from our supplier, we'll get back to you.
