Hi all,
I thought it may he good to have a feed where we could share any tips and tricks to do with any of the Grid Connect Range being Arlec, Deta, Verve, Orion.
I am learning from trial and error and really just accident so sharing with others and sharing back we may be able to create some good learning information for us all.
Please post below starting with what the trick is as the title then how to do so as the body of information.

Hello @AussieMum
My apologies for the late reply. The Arlec technical team has suggested removing the lock from the app (unlink it with the app) and the lock will technically enter into pairing mode again. Should it fail to link or if the connection drops again Arlec has suggested to give them a call on 03 9982 5111 and they will walk you through the trouble shooting steps.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hiya Eric
Yes, I'm going to have to call them, I removed the device as you suggested, it's not maintaining the connection.
I took a photo of how far away or close I need to be for it to connect to my phone
And it's not very far 🤔🤨🤔
Hi @AussieMum
Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to hearing that you've got your key safe working properly.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

I take no responsibility for this suggestion BUT . . .
You could use a Tuya WiFi Smart DIN Rail Mounted Miniature Circuit Breaker from AliExpress.
They have all sorts of circuit breakers from 6A up to 63A for under $20.00.
All Tuya devices I have tried so far do pair and work on the Grid Connect App with no problems. (It's amazing.)
You would have to choose the device carefully to suit your application and engage an electrician to wire it up.
The circuit breaker may fit in a Main Switchboard with a DIN rail mount OR it could be placed in a suitable separate enclosure.
You would have to take into account device approvals for Australia (or the lack of them) and any insurance problems. Be very careful !
I have read of people using these circuit breakers to control Hot Water Heaters as per your installation. 😀
Sorry, I forgot to tag you with my above response regarding your hot water heater control requirement .
Wondering if arlec security cameras can only be used on/with grid connect app,,,,I have 2 cameras that will not connect,,,, tried way too many times now,,,,, arlec say it’s Optus problem and Optus say it’s arlec problem 🤦♂️
Hopefully there is another app that would work maybe could be 😃
Hello @daveh1224
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us.
I have the Orion Grid Connect Smart 1080p HD White Pan and Tilt Security Camera and it only works with the Grid App and nothing else. If after several attempts at connecting the camera and it still refuses to link to your modem. I suggest trying to link to the modem of a friend or relative. This is one way to find out if your modem is the one failing to link to your cameras. If it still fails, I can only suggest bringing the cameras back to the store where you purchased them from and asking for an exchange.
Let me call on our experienced member @CSParnell for his recommendations.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Yes I hotspot iPad from my iPhone and it connects quickly ,,,, just won’t connect to my home wifi
Hello @daveh1224
That pretty much confirms that it's possible that your modem and the cameras are not compatible. Perhaps there is a setting or address on your modem that needs to be linked to the camera in order for them to work together. As I've mentioned earlier, if you can test it on another modem and not a hot spot then it will further reinforce my suspicion of incompatibility.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

@daveh1224 usually it's a 2.4/5ghz issue.
If you can place your modem into 2.4ghz only or setup a guest network with 2.4ghz only and try connecting to that it may work. Also I can't remember off hand as it's been some time since I reconnected my little R2D2 but AP mode over EZ mode has a better success rate but not all devices support it.
You can try other apps Smart Life or Tuya Smart all Arlec/Deta devices work with these apps and frankly the Smart Life app is far superior to Arlecs GC app.
But definitely is a modem issue and in my experience 2.4ghz has to be enabled and it's best in isolation o pair and the. You can turn back to dual after that, if your running 5ghz only chances are you won't pair to it you may need to look at your modem setting
