15 mud room storage projects

A mud room can help keep your home tidy and organised by providing a place for items like shoes, bags, coats and hats.

 

You don't need to devote a whole room. Bunnings Workshop community members have shared many creative mud room projects in different parts of their home to reduce clutter. Below are some terrific examples.

 

1. Mud room makeover with upcycled cabinetry by @marisamoloney 

 

Workshop member Marisa repurposed old furniture and turned an awkward, dated space into an open area with plenty of storage for hats, bags and other items.

2. Upgraded entry using Flexi Storage Clever Cubes by @LillyJ 

 

Flexi Storage Clever Cubes used as wall-mounted shelves and a low-cupboard for shoes doubling as a bench seat created a fantastic mud room solution to help transform an entryway.

3. Mini mudroom using Lugna cabinets by @TheRenoDad 

 

Lugna products were used to build a mudroom for adding valuable storage and keeping an entrance organised and tidy.

4. Entryway organiser by @Sez 

 

Workshop member Sez took inspiration from mud rooms for this built-in unit, which features a rustic bench made of reclaimed hardwood.

5. Garage mud room build using Flexi Storage by @HousevsSarah 

 

Tired of her untidy garage, Sarah combined several different Flexi Storage units to create her own mud room-style custom cabinetry. The whole project took just three days.

6. Mud room cabinet install by @Codey 

 

A mud room cabinet created a new feature in a previously bare room as well as plenty of valuable storage space.

7. Entryway mud room by @AngieLee 

 

Removing the doors of an unused cupboard enabled Angie to build an entryway mud room.

8. Mud room storage bench and coat rack by @woodalwaysworks 

 

Another great example of how to utilise a bench for taking shoes off with plenty of handy storage.

9. Mudroom makeover by @housetohome 

 

New tiles, bench and an arched mirror turned a bare, enclosed area into a rustic mud room. The theme was continued into the adjourning farmhouse laundry.

10. Mudroom using upcycled cabinet by @DonnaDrummond1 

 

This old cabinet spent 50 years in a shed before Donna upcycled it, adding features like leather coat hooks.

11. TV unit transformed into mud room by @Allykj 

 

Ally also took the upcycling route, turning this corner TV unit into a mini mud room with VJ panelling.

12. Cupboard to mud room makeover by @makingmyhive 

 

Community member makingmyhive turned their cupboard into a functional mud room with D.I.Y. Shaker-style cabinetry.

13. D.I.Y. bedroom reno including new storage room by @TREVELYAN 

 

This mud room solution maximised storage space in a bedroom.

An old entertainment unit painted and fitted with hooks and used as a mud room feature to help the family stay organised.

A mudroom for the home entrance using an cupboard and some Pine timber and storage hooks.
