Best product to make candle jars in silicone moulds?
Hi all.... I'm after some advice please.
What is the best product to make candle jars in silicone moulds?
I'm confused looking at all the options eg cement, plaster, grout etc but I'm after something that is:
- white and can be easily coloured
- heat resistant
- water resistant
- doesn't adhere to silicone moulds
- economically (due to re-selling)
Is there any product that would tick all the boxes? Any advice would be hugely appreciated 🙂

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @PrincessFiona. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about creating moulds.
It sounds like you'd be after a specialised product, perhaps heat-resistant cement. I'm not aware of any products that would suit your needs.
Given the dangers involved with the jar cracking and potentially leading to a fire, especially since you'll be selling them, it's important to use a product specifically designed for that purpose. I'd encourage you to do a bit more research about what other makers are using for their candle holders. If you then have a particular product in mind I'd be happy to check with our suppliers to see if we have something similar.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Best product to make candle jars in silicone moulds?
Hi Mitchell
Thanks for your reply. Great advice.... thanks. I'm being lazy in asking for all the specifics that would help to save time so I wouldn't have to paint or seal the jars. Do you have a white cement or similar mix that can be coloured.... many articles and videos people use CementAll? Also what eco friendly all natural sealant do you have? Obviously I don't want anything toxic on the I'll inside of the jars

Re: Best product to make candle jars in silicone moulds?
Hi @PrincessFiona,
There are fire-proof white cements such as this Selleys Ready To Use Fireproof Cement which may be similar to the products you have mentioned.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of a sealer that can be used in this application.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
