Hi, there is visible gap between the house brick wall and concrete outside of my house as per the photos. Which product should I use to fill the gap? Is it related to the foundation of the house or is it a common problem? I am quite worried. Thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Zuu. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about filling gaps.
Cracking between the house foundation and adjacent concrete areas is a common occurrence, which is why expansion foams are typically used to create a flexible joint. This type of gap can develop due to natural ground movement and minor shifting over time, but it’s not necessarily a structural issue.
In your case, the gap appears quite large in some areas, so you’ll first need to fill most of the void with expansion joint foam and/or a gap filler rod. Once filled to about 10mm below the surface, you can use Sikaflex 11FC to seal and finish the joint. For large areas, it's more economical to use the sausage version than the cartridge. This will create a flexible, durable seal that helps prevent further water ingress and debris buildup.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Thanks for your reply. I’ll give it a go. Can I also use sikaflex 11FC to close the gap in between this (refer to the photo).
