What to do when discovering active termites?

I have found active termites while ripping up an old timber deck. Not sure when I’ll be able to get a pest company in. Should I stop ripping it up now I have disturbed them? Or does it not matter now? Should I just get rid of it all.

The first thing to do is wait until tomorrow after the weekend and start ringing around to find out when you'll be able to get a professional to attend. At this stage, I wouldn't continue the work as you risk the termites leaving the nest and making their new home in your home. Typically, it's best to leave the termite nest in situ in order to poison them. There are not too many circumstances where just continuing to remove the nest is advised.
