Recommended Wood Stain Product for Treated Pine Fence & Gate?

Looking for a product that will prevent my Treated Pine Fence & Gate (1 year old) from going grey and give it a bit of colour and protection. Want to keep the wood grain showing. Also open to a type of wood varnish to further protect the wood? Thank you

Re: Recommended Wood Stain Product for Treated Pine Fence & Gate?

Hi @ChrisN20,

I'd suggest using Sikkens 4L Pine Cetol HLSe Timber Finish. It is an oil-based deep-penetrating timber stain for decks, cladding and all other exterior timber. It will give the timber great protection while maintaining the natural timber look and enhancing the colour similarly to your inspiration image.

Start by giving the timber a clean with Sikkens 1L Cetol BL Deck And Wood Cleaner to remove any dirt or contaminants that can affect the absorption of your stain. Once clean, allow the timber to fully dry before moving on.

To apply the product, you'll want to use a high-quality paintbrush as recommended in the instructions. You'll want to apply 2-3 coats depending on your desired finish, waiting 16 hours between coats to ensure it fully penetrates and cures before the next application.

You'll need to apply a maintenance coat every 2-3 years so keep any unused stain in a safe place for use in the future.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
