Putting a concrete pad outside of laundry door

Hi All,

I am getting my concrete done in Covercrete in a few weeks and we the stepdown outside of the laundry door is too great for my partner.

We were thinking of putting a small slab there before the guys do the covercrete...

Are there any regulations I need to follow?

Cheers,

Re: Putting a concrete pad outside of laundry door

Welcome to the Workshop community @mickworth. I'd be happy to start the conversation.

I can't think of any regulations you will need to follow. You could cement the slabs in place before the Covercrete, just be aware though they most likely will be above the damp course line and will need to be graded away from the wall. It would be wise also to discuss the addition with the Covercrete manufacturer. There could be issues with the product being applied over the joints and the subsequent movement involved.

Another option I can think of would be to have the Covercrete installed and then use a Matpro 1067 x 305 x 32mm Outdoor Access Ramp Mat to adjust the drop.

A D.I.Y solution could be a timber ramp and would look quite attractive also.

Re: Putting a concrete pad outside of laundry door

Hi Mitchell, Could you please assist me with building a wooden ramp like you have shown in the picture. I mean i just need to know the items that are needed and I can give it a go.

Thanks

Hello @dianacastelino

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about the ramp.

You can generally build a ramp with a 90 x 45mm Outdoor Framing H3 Treated Pine - 2.4m and a 1200 x 596mm 18mm Plywood Pine BC Grade. You also have the option of using 90 x 22mm Decking H3 Treated Pine L/M. I've placed a sample image below to give you an idea of how it can be built.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
