This project is going to be made by Ladies in our RSL Village. We have just formed a Ladies Shed group We are preparing to be trained in the use of the machines and when we have obtained competency, we will be able to create kits for those who would like to put them together but not necessarily use machines. A small group want to learn to use the machines and we will cut the timber into kits.
The wood we are reclaiming from pallets. The photo shows a large version Christmas Tree, a smaller version and a tiny version. I myself want to put together a medium version to complete the set.
These are the prototypes which were cut and assembled by Tony one of our male residents. He kindly offered his help in working out angles, cutting and assembly. This is special because it has reinvigorated Tony's love for woodwork as he was a master carpenter in his day. He had to give it up whilst nursing his wife until she passed. Tony is nearly 88.
2 pallets with HT certification
Disassembled and nails removed.
Tony did not use the machines in the shed and worked in his own garage using:-
Bosch Jig Saw
Makita Battery Drill
Ryobi Sander.
various hand tools hammer, etc.
Glue PVC
Nails and Screws

The Angles were calculated from this pattern and templates were made. So that simplified the cutting of the boards which were cut together so one could be flipped.
These cut boards were, placed on a backing plank and screwed, glued and nailed. This plank was allowed to protrude at the end by about 6-8 inches so that the feet could be attached.
The feet are of a H design and the tree is fixed permanently. In th4e next prototype we would like to design so that it is removable. for easier storage. The feet were designed by Tony so I can't really describe how they were done.
The were finally sanded to removed splinters. They can be painted or varnished. Also, will allow for signage to be stenciled onto the branches with a Christmas theme.
The pattern was a free pattern thanks to Tool Belton You Tube
