That looks awesome - how long did that take you to install?
Have you had any problems with watermarks left after rain? Our new Cleverdeck floor is left with them every time and they never seem to disappear completely after drying out.
Hi @maknilsin, thanks for your comment. I didn't physically install it myself - only ' supervised' over the builders' shoulder. Once the foundations were done and the metal posts were in it was pretty much plain sailing except for some stop/start because of downpours. Because all the boards were the same length as the proposed deck ( my way of cutting the labour costs ) time was saved as well as money. The builder did the fixing while I helped by presenting the boards as needed. Deck size is 5.4 x 2.5 meters, and the boards were laid in 1.5 work days. And I just love it. Cheers.
Hi @Darbysgirl, I'm not familiar with your product but perhaps this may help ? The guys at Ekodeck told me it was very important to wash the deck on completion with a bucket of hot water with dishwash liquid, rinse off with warm water then dry with your squeeze mop. This apparently washes away the (invisible to us) waxy coating that remains on the product after manufacture. I did as he instructed and have had no problem with water marks - and boy have we had some water to deal with !! I have also removed lots of bird poo too. Warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Birds love my new deck-just wish they would face IN when perching so their bottoms would be OUT Hope you find this helps @Darbysgirl. Remember too, scuff marks,etc.. can be removed from Ekodeck by a quick sanding along the grain, but I don't know if your product has that option Cheers
@Trying, pure genius planning your deck to be the length of the planks, saving on labour & wastage.
You played your cards right, & have a beauty full deck.

Thanks again for sharing your project @Trying.

Hy @Trying
Have you had problems with the deck getting hot at all?
I am looking at installing ekodeck and thought I'd just ask a few people who have had it installed now for a few years.
Thanks
Trev
Welcome to the Workshop community Trev (@TrebleTrev).
It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for jumping straight into the conversation with an interesting question. As a general rule Ekodeck will retain more heat than hardwoods. Adequate ventilation between boards and under them is essential in reducing heat build within the product.
We look forward to following your deck project, I would encourage you to start your own discussion on the topic as many more helpful community members will be able to answer your questions. If you ever need advice or have a project to share with the community please let us know.

Hi Treble Trev, I've had the deck for a couple of years now and I'm as happy with it now as I was when it was first finished. The installation was done allowing adequate ventilation underneath ( most important ) and the nature of the fixing system for the boards also allows for great airflow. I should mention that I do have a roof over the deck but the sun strikes parts of the deck all day. My friends and family sometimes walk around on it without shoes and have never had a problem, but I always have shoes on. My biggest pleasure though is to sit watching my neighbours sweep, scrub, rub and apply coats of product to their hardwood decks each season, while I tinkle the icecubes in my drink. I love Ecodeck ! No nails to see, a sweep and a warm water wash, or just a hose-down if you only have dust, and it's good to go for another few months. Can't speak for others, but I would recommend Ecodeck without hesitation. Good luck with your project Trev. Love to see some pics when you finish it. Cheers, Trying.
