Hi Team,
This has never happened before but since yesterday, we are unable to fold our awaning. When we are turning the handle of our manual awaning its making a ...Tuk sound and awaning slips.
I do not know how old is this awaning as it came with the house, we have been spraying silicon spray every now and then-never had any issue. I have made a video for you to see/hear and suggest next steps.
Edit- i can only upload images
Hi @newfast,
Unfortunately, we do not currently have video embedding on the Workshop platform and it is tough to see what is going on from photos. Perhaps you could upload the clip to YouTube and send a link?
It sounds like the internal mechanism may have worn down. I can't say for certain that we can fix it, but I think the place to start is by dismantling the mechanism with the turning hook attached to it.
If there is a broken gear, you may be able to replace it or have something manufactured to replace it. If there are worn-out parts or debris in the mechanism, they may be able to be restored.
We'll need to do some further investigation if we are going to fix the issue.
Allow me to tag @Noyade, who is fantastic with this kind of thing.
I'll also tag @Dave-1 and @Nailbag to see if they have any thoughts.

Good Evening @newfast
When I read you description of the "Tuk" sound I thought something has worn down and slipping inside. I woudl follow what @JacobZ has suggested as I would be doing those same steps. Once you have dismantled from the turn point I am hopping you will find an obvious piece that has clear signs of wear. Im thinking spring for some reason over a gea.
I would take photos of every step of dismantling so you can strip it down and then fix and put it back together. Having something that has worked for so long may be worth the effort to repair.
