Ideas for temporary fix for driveway drainage?

As you can see, our driveway develops a deep pool when it is raining. The driveway has sunken in this area and needs a complete overhaul, but I'm strapped financially at the moment. 

Had been thinking about putting sand there. What do you think? Or is there something else I should do? Or just leave it until it can be done properly?

Do you happen to know if there is a stormwater line anywhere near that location? It might be located on any house plans you had. An easy solution would be installing an Everhard EasyDRAIN Grey Polymer Grate And Flo-Way Pit next to the driveway at the lowest point and connecting it to the stormwater line.

Your sand idea could work, but by the time you purchase the bags of sand, you might be a portion of the way to paying a drainage specialist to connect a stormwater pit.

Hi @Nursenet  definitely don't put sand there. You'll just create a mud pile and the sand will wash away.

As a short term solution: it appears that the driveway slopes downward toward the road...? If that's so,  could you dig a channel by removing some pavers, to allow the water to drain to the road. If you do it would be best to put some flexible pipe in to stop the trench just eroding away.

The amount of sand needed is the same as would be required to lift the pavers anyway, so if you are going to get sand you may as well put it under the pavers and the job is done.   If you want a description of how to get the pavers back to normal height, let me know.

I agree with Mitchel Id be trying to link into you storm water if close enough. If you dont have the plans just look along the gutter you will see the holes where it comes out JDE

Hi @Nursenet, have you established why your driveway has sunk so badly?  If it is caused by a mains water leak, the water supplier should repair it for you. I'm assuming it is on the verge area, not on your property. Perhaps it would be worth informing them that you suspect a leak (unless you know the cause already) and asking if they can verify that for you. They will have methods for finding their leaks from above ground.  If it's on your property then a leak will be revealed by the water meter running when all taps are off. A leak on your property will be covered by insurance, including finding it & fixing the driveway.
