A gap, 8mm at its widest, has appeared between the frame of the front door and the exterior texture coat, exposing the underlying brickwork. What would be the best way to seal this?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @MaccaFromMelb. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about filling a gap.
Was there previously a trim piece in this area that covered the gap? Attaching a quad moulding to this area would not only conceal the gap but also provide a tidy, professional finish. It's a straightforward solution to cover the gap and restore a neat appearance. The trim could be glued in place with Liquid Nails.
Another approach would be to use Sikaflex 11FC to seal the gap. Apply it along the gap and smooth it off with a damp cloth or a caulking tool to create a clean seal. This would prevent water and debris from entering while maintaining a neat look. For a really weather-tight seal, you could first apply the Sikaflex and then install the moulding over it.
