How to resurface concrete pavers?

I have a large courtyard that has concrete pavers (photo attached). I’m wondering if there is a simple way to resurface or renevate without having to rip up?

Re: Resurfacing outdoor pavers

Hello @snowgum39

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your outdoor pavers.

I propose giving it a deep clean first using a pressure washer and applying 30 Seconds 5L Outdoor Cleaner Concentrate to remove any moss and mould that might have imbedded itself into the paver. To keep that fresh clean look, you could seal it using Crommelin 4L Water Based Paving Sealer. But if you are after a change in colour, I suggest looking at the White Knight 10L Medium Grey Ultra Pave Quick Dry Paint.

I also recommend having a look at this discussion - Paver refresh with paint | Bunnings Workshop community by @prettyliving.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: Resurfacing outdoor pavers

Thanks Eric, good advice. I was wondering if I could change the look completely. Is there a way I could resurface so that it doesn’t even look like pavers but has an appearance similiar to an epoxy covered garage floor? I saw a bathroom Reno somewhere where the floor tiles were resurfaced to look like that. I might not be explaining myself well also 😁

Re: Resurfacing outdoor pavers

Hi @snowgum39,

Our epoxy coatings are designed to go over concrete surfaces and not pavers. In order to apply them, you'd need to have the tiles removed and the concrete ground back to a smooth surface. Even if the pavers are concrete, the issue is the deep grout lines between them, and our epoxy coatings are not capable of filling that depth.

There might be a possibility of a specialised re-surfacing company applying a self-levelling cement over the top of the tiles, which could then allow for the application of an epoxy coating. However, as mentioned, our companies will only warrant their product over solid concrete, not cement over tiles.
