I recently discovered a couple of small rust holes near the bend of my metal downpipe. What’s a good way to fix this?

For rust holes in downpipes, especially if they’re near the bend where water flow is concentrated, a replacement is usually the best solution. While small rust spots can sometimes be patched or sealed, holes—even small ones—indicate the metal is significantly weakened and likely to deteriorate further over time. Repair tapes or sealants may offer a temporary fix, but they won’t restore the pipe’s strength or durability.
Replacing the affected section ensures your downpipe functions correctly and avoids further issues like leaks or blockages. You can purchase replacement sections of downpipe, but to have this section made, it would be best to enlist the services of a professional.
