How to repair cracked storm water pipe?

Hi there, I accidentally cracked this underground storm water drain pipe while cutting trench. Is there a way I can repair/fix it without digging out further? possibly patch it out?? Re: Repair cracked storm water pipe

Hi @bh039,

Thank you for your question.

You will have to dig out enough width to see the full extent of the damage plus around 20cm on each side so the pipes have a bit of play.

You'll then need to cut out the cracked section of the pipe using a hacksaw ensuring you make a nice square cut. You should then clean up the cut ends with a bit of sandpaper to remove the plastic burrs.

You'll then need to grab a length of 90mm Stormwater Pipe, two 90mm Slip Couplings, a bottle of Red Priming Fluid and a bottle of Type N Blue Cement Solvent.

Cut the length of the stormwater pipe to the length of the gap minus about 5cm to allow for the slip couplings.

Apply red priming fluid to the outside of the ends of the new length of the pipe, then apply blue cement solvent over the wet primer. Do the same to the inside of the slip couplings then push them together and rotate the couplings 90 degrees to create suction.

Repeat the primer and solvent application to the ends of the pipe in the ground and then slip the slip couplings over the ends of these pipes and once again rotate by 90 degrees to create suction. Allow them to dry and then rebury them.

This will give you a professional repair that will last for years to come.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
