How to repaint old painted pebblecrete driveway?

Hi everyone  we bought a house and the previous  owners have painted  the driveway  but the paint is peeling  off however  there are three layers  of different coloured paint the first being easy to remove with the hose the second a little more stubborn  and the third  more stubborn. I'm looking  for the most cost effective  way to make thus drive look at least decent  so any suggestions  would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: How to repaint old painted pebblecrete driveway?

Hi @kathy7,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

The easiest way to give your driveway a refresh is to paint over what is already there. The problem with this is that your new layer of paint is adhered to the layer beneath, so it will only be as good as the coat of paint that it is adhered to.

You've indicated that the top layer of paint hasn't adhered well to the layers beneath, but the layers beneath are better adhered.

My suggestion would be to use a high-powered pressure cleaner such as this Full Boar 3200PSI 7HP Petrol Pressure Washer to go over the driveway and remove as much of the poorly adhered paint as possible.

Once the poorly adhered paint has been removed, you can use a concrete primer designed for use over existing coatings. This Rust-Oleum 3.78L Concrete and Garage Recoat Primer is a good option.

Now the surface has been primed, you can use a concrete paint in a colour and finish of your choosing to recoat the surface. Ensure you follow the manufacturer's instructions closely to ensure you get the best result possible.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
