Hi Community,
I have a customised House Number sign built on ACM sheet - 500x300 mm size. I want to use the standoffs without drilling - can I use liquid nails? If not, what are my options?
Thanks in advance!
Regards
HMT
Hello @hmt23
Thanks for sharing your question about installing your house number with standoffs. Would it be possible for you to please post a photo of your house number and the wall you're planning to mount it onto? This will give our members a better idea of what the house number looks like and the material of the wall. One possible way to mount it is by using timber ends with a routered channel. In this manner no glue will be applied to the ACM sheet and the only thing screwed on to your wall are the timber ends.
I've placed a sample image below to give you an idea of how it could be done. Please have a look and tell me what you think.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.
If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Morning @hmt23
I really do like @EricL 's suggestion, I have had the same thing in mind for a house number idea I want to do in glass.
I havnt come up with too many ideas of clamping something in place and not damaging the material.
A couple of photos would be good and also what edging thickness you may be after?
You could always clamp it between two pieces of timber and have it hanmging from a chain like a wild West saloon sign. I actually did that for one place and it cam up quiet nicely.

Afternoon @hmt23
lol I thought you didnt want to drill into your new sign!
So the second option I suggested (hang it from chains) comes into play. You could hang it from the roof above?
You could also have it so it hangs on chains agains the pillar.
Mount it on a new post to be installed just off the paving area?
Liquid nails does work, tho I have never tried it on a rendered surface, once it is attached tho it will stay attached!

Hi @hmt23,
If the standoffs have a sufficient surface area, say 10mm, then you could probably use Sika 290ml Sikaflex®-118 Extreme Grab Construction Adhesive to glue them onto the render and then to the sheet. However, drilling and using fittings would be a far more substantial connection.
Ensure you tape the standoffs and sheet in position until the adhesive has entirely dried.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Thank you @Dave-1 @EricL @MitchellMc - I now have some options to look at. Really appreciate the turnaround!
Hi @hmt23
I have installed the same type of offset panel and can highly recommend @MitchellMc suggestions for the Sikaflex adhesive. You will just need to use something like a cloth tape to strap it in position for 24hrs to allow it to fully cure.
