How do you disconnect and reconnect the natural gas line to a replacement 4 burner bbq
Hi @mjk4011,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Did you have any photos of the natural gas line and the bbq's connection point? This would certainly help our members to offer their best advice.
It is likely that you will need to purchase a conversion kit, such as this Matador BBQ Accessory Natural Gas Conversion Kit to allow your new bbq to attach to the natural gas line.
Let me know if you needed a hand uploading images, or if the above kit will solve your problem.

My problem is not converting from lpg bottle to natural gas. It’s installing a new matador 4 burner to the existing gas line when I take out the old beefeater bbq? There’s no obvious tap to turn off the gas while doing the changeover
The problem is not converting from lpg to natural gas - it’s installing a new matador to replace the existing bbq where there is no obvious tap to turn off the gas during the changeover
Hi @mjk4011,
There is likely a valve near your gas metre or gas bottles that can be turned off during the changeover, but please note that this will turn off the gas flow to the entire property.
If you can't locate a shut off valve, I would suggest contacting a gas fitter for assistance as the risks involved with gas are great and D.I.Y. solutions are not advisable.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Jacob - yeah I was trying to avoid turning off the gas supply at the meter - I thought there may have been a spring compression in the nuts that disconnect at the bbq to avoid gas escaping. I’ll get a plumber/gasfitter. Thanks Jacob
Hi @mjk4011
There is always the main shutoff valve at the meter but open a burner after turning off the main supply at the meter and give it time to disperse before working on it! If you have any doubts, call in a gas plumber and play safe. Don't forget, you will need to relight any pilot lights you have finished (eg Gas water heater) when you turn the gas back on and you can test for leaks with soapy water. I am assuming the new Burner is set up for Natural gas as the jet sizes will be different (if not speak to your supplier).
Thanks for that much appreciated
