Hi all, I have buffalo grass which has a lot of brown / dead looking patches. There's also weeds throughout (one big one) as well as moss. I've tried weed and feed a couple of times, but it's not really improving. Anyone got advice on how I can get it looking nice and lush? Ideally as quickly as possible as I'm selling my house soon! Thanks in advance!
Hi @stanalive,
To improve your patchy buffalo grass and remove the weeds quickly, you’ll need a targeted approach. Since the weed and feed hasn’t had much impact so far, start by manually removing the larger weeds or using a selective herbicide that’s safe for buffalo grass, like Scotts Buffalo Weed, Feed & Green Up. This will help eliminate both broadleaf weeds and moss without harming the grass.
For the brown patches, you might need to rejuvenate the lawn by aerating the soil. This allows better water and nutrient penetration, helping the grass recover. After aerating, fertilise with Scotts Lawn Builder 4kg Extreme Green Slow Release Lawn Fertiliser, which will give your grass the nutrients it needs to grow thicker and greener. Ensure you water regularly, especially after fertilising, to promote healthy new growth.
In areas where the grass is too thin, consider applying some lawn top dressing to encourage quicker filling of the bare patches. With these steps, you should see improvement in a few weeks, though do remember that creating a perfect lawn can take time.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
