Re: How to fix Matador barbecue stuck on low heat?

Hi @geoffrey888,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

I'll start by saying that any interactions with gas should be made with extreme caution. Ensure that the gas is turned off while troubleshooting and if you are not confident troubleshooting the issues, consider contacting a professional for assistance.

It sounds like the issue is with the gas flow which could stem from a couple of things, the regulator, blocked burners or low pressure from the gas socket.

To check your gas regulator, first turn off the gas supply and inspect the regulator for any visible damage. Check the hose to ensure it isn’t kinked or damaged. Perform a soap test by applying soapy water to the connections and watching for bubbles, which would indicate a gas leak. To reset the regulator, disconnect it from the gas supply, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect and turn the gas on slowly. Afterward, test the BBQ to see if it heats properly. If the issue remains unresolved, replacing the regulator may be necessary.

With everything still disconnected, check the burners for blockages. Brush the burners with a stiff-bristled brush, focusing on the holes to remove any potential blockages. Once cleaned, reconnect the gas and test.

If these two steps don't fix the issue, you may have low gas pressure. If this is the case, you will need to contact a licensed gas fitter for their assistance.

Let me know how you go and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi, I have the same issue. Bought  it less than a year. Only 1 time using. Not go to the heat level anymore. Try to clean all the hole to make sure it all not block. But still the same.

Hello @Jeed_chamunee

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.

If the unit is less than one year old, I suggest bringing the unit back to the store for an exchange. Please make sure to bring your docket or a bank statement indicating proof of purchase.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @Jeed_chamunee,

Let me also extend a very warm welcome to the community.

Have you tried all the troubleshooting steps that Jacob suggested above?

Could you also please let us know whether you are using gas bottles or a built-in gas supply line?

Thanks,

Jason

Re: How to fix Matador barbecue stuck on low heat?

Hi Jason and EricL,

yes , finally I found that the gas hose was leaking at joint of rubber hose and connector. I don’t think got the BBQ back is a good ideas as the size after already assembled unless it’s a last choice. I got metal gas hose from Gasmate that cost me another nearly $50 but it worked. Little bit disappointed on product quality but… Hopefully, my comment can get to Matador for future improvement.

Re: How to fix Matador barbecue stuck on low heat?

Thanks for your feedback @Jeed_chamunee. Regardless of whether you can return the whole unit, we'd always suggest that you discuss the issue with a team member in-store. In such circumstances, they might be able to replace certain parts without you needing to bring the unit in. Currently you could return to the store and speak with a manager to let them know you needed to buy a new gas hose to replace the leaking one. I trust they'll do their best to assist with the situation.
