How to build front garden bed?

We have recently bought our new home and have a small bed at the entrance. Been quoted quite a bit for concrete around the edges so we thought we’d skip that for now and create something that’s a bit more neat. It is currently mulched up but my worry is that once winter sets and rain pours in, it may start smelling or become a breeding place for creepy crawlers.. thinking of a flower bed along the outer edges and filling the rest of the area with white stones.. we would like to consider adding a bench to use as a sit out and even add a religious statue along the flower bed! Happy to consider ideas but would like some assistance on how to go about the project. Would also like suggestions on annual flowering plants preferably blue. It’s our first diy so we’re a little nervous. Appreciate any help

Re: Frontyard patio

Afternoon @mrslee

So I was thinking of a small width path to go to the religious statue. 3 pavers wide or 4 depending (Kept it small as its not a large area overall)

The "edging" can be pavers laid on their side against the concrete and then nackfilled with mulch to hold them in place. or stood on end if you want a little higher edging. These will move over time but I figure you will be mainting the garden as you will be activly using it. The edge pavers make it so you can adjust things if wanted.

The outside seat, should be maybe half as wide as the whole area.

The high side I was referingto is the windows, the low side the path at the front.

Tools, whoops I forgot to include a small spirit level!

The path can be anywhere along the area really. Maybe start with placing the seat a little off the wall and then figuring the path?

Id go for shrubs either side of the garden and lower groundcover style ones in the middle so you will always have a view
