Hi, we have a small balcony where im thinking of putting in fake grass. The whole balcony itself is on tiles which is on an inbuilt drainage system, hence the water flows between the tiles through to the drainage system. Just wanted to check if I lay out the fake grass, will that affect the water drainage when it rains? Thanks.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Animesh. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about artificial turf.
Artificial turf typically has drainage holes to allow water to pass through, so it should drain adequately during light to moderate rain. However, in heavy downpours, water may not drain as efficiently, especially if the turf slows its flow to the inbuilt drainage system. Over a soil base, this isn't an issue as the water will eventually dissipate, though in an apartment setting, ensure water doesn’t pool or flow towards doorways, which could cause issues. You might want to test a small section before committing to the full installation.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
