The spotted gum decking advertised as for sale in Bunnings appears to have PEFC accreditation only. Its called 135 x 19mm L/M Decking Spotted Gum KD Standard Parkside Mill
The website states that this is available in Mill Park store, Victoria - i assume in other stores as well Does the product sold have FSC accreditation ?
Does the product sold have FSC accreditation ?
Let me extend a very warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @sue10. We trust you'll get loads of help and inspiration for all your home improvement projects from our wonderful community members.
I've asked the Bunnings team to investigate this for you. In the meantime, there's information about Bunnings and timber on the Bunnings website, including the responsible timber sourcing policy.
Thanks for your patience,
Jason
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you @sue10.
As you note, the two recognised forest certification schemes within Australia are PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). This Spotted Gum decking comes from PEFC-certified Queensland forests. It is not available as FSC certified.
Please post anytime you need assistance with your decking project. We look forward to seeing your new deck come together.

Hi Mitchel
Thanks for your response. I thought Bunnings was only selling FSC accredited wood products. It was announced back in 2020 - here -
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-17/vic-forestry-industry-at-risk-of-collapse/10255128
Has Bunnings changed its mind about this ?
thanks

Hi @sue10
Thank you for sharing your concern. Allow me to make further inquiries regarding the timber accreditation. As soon as I have more information, I'll post it here as soon as I can.
Thank you for your patience.
Eric
Thanks again for your patience @sue10.
Regarding the ABC article from 2018 you’ve referenced, this story is largely focused on a specific case in Victoria and unfortunately doesn’t include all the details of our responsible timber sourcing policy.
Our 2018 policy update introduced a requirement for timber products originating from natural forests to be third party certified, which includes FSC or PEFC.
I have also sent you a private message with contact details if you would like to speak with one of our team.
