How to install a flyscreen for Stegbar awning window?

I have this stegbar awning window which comes with a single channel at the bottom. There are no other channels on the sides and the top.  How can I secure a flyscreen to the window? What sort of clips do I need? Thanks.

Re: install a flyscreen for stegbar awning window

Hi @who,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

The first thing I would recommend is contacting the manufacturer to see if they have a proprietary solution to the problem. I imagine they would have some kind of solution to add a flyscreen to their windows.

If this doesn't prove fruitful, then we would need to find a way to mount aluminium channel around the opening so you can insert a flyscreen. You can see there are channels on the side that can be used, but we would need to add the channel along the line I have added below and at the top of the opening.

If you can let me know what the width of the channel is on the left and right of the window, I can recommend a suitable aluminium channel.

Once we know what size channel we need, we can use flyscreen frame to create a flyscreen for the opening.

Check out How do you make a flyscreen frame and How to replace a flyscreen for some guidance on this process.

Let me know how you go.

Thanks, Jacob. I will try to get in touch with the manufacturer. If that route fails, is that your suggestion to add channels on the left and right, or the top? At the moment, the window has only one channel at the bottom.

Re: install a flyscreen for stegbar awning window

Hi @who,

It may be the shadow, but it looks like there is a usable channel that I have marked below.

If this is not the case, then you should add them on all four sides of the opening.

Let me know how you go, I'm happy to assist further if required.
