Hello, my kitchen tap had a piece break off at the bottom of the tap.
How do I fix it please?
Aternoon @Melissa19
Whoops I can only imagine your face. Mine would have that big O "moment"
If you run your fingers around the base just above the the loose section can your feel anything like a small allen key slot?
I found an example of what your tap might look like drawing wise. Caroma WELS 4 Star 7.5L/min Chrome Saracom Swivel Sink Mixer and in particular the Intstallation instructions number 17. Its mentioned in step 5 of the install.
I am thinking that the grub screw (its usually located behind the tap so you cant see it at the base) may have come loose. Its a allen key style little screw.
One question as I have re-read your post. I had presumed the broken bit wa sthe spout itself, is there another bit that has broken that you can show a photo of?
Just tagging @EricL, @JacobZ and @Nailbag in as they may have some pointers.
Dave
Hi @Melissa19
@Dave-1 already given some great starting advice. Is there a piece now missing thats broken away, or has the main top part separated from the bottom as in broken away?
In either case, without any brand to start with it might be a struggle to find a spare part. Only top end brands have a limited amount available at best.

Hello @Melissa19
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen tap mixer.
@Dave-1 has given you very sound advice. The grub screw which is marked as number 18 holds the spout in place. Its access point is usually hidden at the back of the base of the spout. If the grub screw is still there you should be able to locate it with an Allen key. If parts are missing from your spout, it's very likely that it would be number 16 which is the plastic O ring that guides the spigot. If it is missing, I suggest bringing this diagram to your local store and speaking to the special orders team and asking them if this can be ordered as a spare part.
But if you still have the plastic O ring you should be able to re-assemble your spout and re-install it to its original position. I've placed an image below to give you a better idea of the parts location.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thank you all for replying and for the welcome. I really appreciate the time and effort taken.
Yes I think it's an 'o' ring as described. It broke away from the tap in pieces.
The Allen key at the back of the tap won't budge. It's stuck.
We inherited the tap with the house so have no idea about brand etc.
I'll ask Bunnings if they can replace the 'o' ring. Is that something you buy off the shelf or special order? Cost?
If I have to purchase a new tap, does a plumber need to install it?
Thank you again!
