How to paint a Laminex cabinet?

I bill a cabinet with old panels of Laminex that need to be painted. What paint should be used? Does it need an undercoat?

Re: Paint

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Alberto1. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about painting Laminex.

If your cabinets are made with Laminex (laminate), the Dulux Renovation Range is an excellent option for achieving a durable, professional-looking finish. This range is specifically designed for surfaces like laminate, making it ideal for refreshing older cabinets without needing to replace them.

Before applying the paint, it's important to prepare the surface properly to ensure the best results. Start by thoroughly cleaning the cabinets to remove any grease or dirt. Then, lightly sand the surface to help the paint adhere better. Once prepared, use the Dulux Renovation Range Primer as an undercoat, which is essential for laminate surfaces to promote adhesion and improve durability. After the primer has dried, apply the Dulux Renovation Range Top Coat in your chosen colour. The top coat is highly resistant to moisture and chipping, making it perfect for cabinets in high-use areas.
