Re: How to fix chipped laminate kitchen drawers?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Shaz65. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing cabinetry.

Given that the coating is formed around the front curved edge, it is likely to be vacuum-formed vinyl rather than laminate. Its thickness and the way it has peeled back from the edge support this. Unlike laminate, where you can iron on a new edging strip, this vinyl coating is applied as one continuous layer over the entire front face of the drawer.

You have a couple of options to address the damage. One approach is to carefully cut away the damaged portion and repaint the area. Alternatively, you could peel off the entire front face and repaint the drawer. However, be aware that any painted finish will inevitably look like paint and won't achieve the same smooth, factory finish as the original vinyl coating.

Another option is to replace the drawer front entirely. If this drawer was part of one of our cabinets, I would be more than happy to contact the supplier to check if a replacement is available. This might be the best solution to ensure a perfect match and maintain the overall aesthetic of your cabinetry.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
