How to extend kitchen cupboards up to the ceiling?

Hello all,

Does anyone have any advice on how to extend kitchen cabinets up to the ceiling? We're looking to increase the storage space in our kitchen, and as much as we've love to redo the whole thing, it just isn't in the budget at the moment. We hate having things sitting up on-top of the cabinets where they collect dust and grease and god knows what else, so thought we could install some extra cupboards up to the ceiling to hide this stuff away while keeping it clean.

Next step will be to freshen up the cabinets by painting and maybe changing the handles over, so we're not too concerned with matching the cream colour.

The cupboard above the fridge doesn't go all the way back to the wall, to allow for airflow behind the fridge. Is it safe to extend this up to the ceiling? There would still be a space behind the cupboard, but the air wouldn't be able to get out as the cupboard would seal it off.

Anyone got any products they'd recommend ? Happy to do cutting and sizing and measuring but don't know what to buy or if we can just build boxes on put them on top of the existing cabinets or if anything we do would need to be wall mounted.

Thanks!

Hi @shaneaoz,

If you can take measurements from the top of the cabinet to the ceiling and across the entire span, then from the front edge at the fridge portion, middle, and then pantry cabinet, that will give us a great start for recommending products to suit.

Feel free to pop your measurements on the image I've created below.
